IP & domain location lookup
Locations are estimates based on the IP address and may differ from the actual location. IP geolocation by DB-IP.com (CC BY 4.0)
Check my IP address
Open this page and your public IP address appears right away, along with your approximate country, region and internet service provider (ISP). Every website, game server and messaging app identifies your connection by this address. Use the Copy button when you need to share it — for example to allow remote access, add it to a server allow-list or give it to a support team.
Public vs. private IP
A public IP is assigned to your internet connection by your ISP and is unique on the internet. A private IP is handed out by your router to devices at home or in the office (192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x, 172.16–31.x.x) and only works inside that network. All devices behind one router reach the internet through the same public IP.
The address shown by ipconfig on Windows or in macOS network settings is usually a private IP, so it differs from the one on this page.
IPv4 and IPv6
IPv4 addresses look like 203.0.113.20 — four numbers — and there are only about 4.3 billion of them, nearly all in use. IPv6 addresses look like 2001:db8::1 — eight groups of hexadecimal — and the supply is practically unlimited. If your ISP and device support both, the address shown depends on which one your browser used.
IP and domain location lookup
Enter an IP address or a domain such as google.com to see its country, region, network (ASN) and hostname. For a domain, up to five of its IP addresses are looked up. You can paste a full link (https://…) or an IP:port as is.
| Country / region | The estimated location from the IP geolocation database (DB-IP Lite, updated monthly). |
|---|---|
| ISP | The network (ASN) and organization that manages the IP range. |
| Hostname | The reverse DNS name registered for the IP. Many IPs have none. |
| Coordinates | An approximate center point for the city or region — never a street address. |
How accurate is the location?
The country is usually right, but the city or region can be off by tens of kilometers or more. Mobile data often shows the location of the carrier’s equipment, and with a VPN or proxy you will see the server’s location. An IP address alone cannot reveal a home address or identify a person.
FAQ
Why does my IP keep changing? Home and mobile connections usually get a dynamic IP, which can change when the router restarts or after some time. For an address that never changes, ask your ISP for a static IP.
Is it safe to share my IP? It reveals only an approximate area and your ISP. Still, avoid posting it publicly, as it could be used as a target for attacks.
I turned on a VPN but the IP is the same. Reload the page. If it does not change, the VPN is not applied to this browser’s traffic.
